Diet and Weight

Hello Readers,
Oh what a sensitive topic especially for us women lol.  Well I can only speak for myself so again here is my take on the subject :) I was always tiny all my life except for my high school years, not a great time to be chubby lol. I remember my friends would go to the gym regularly, work out and diet.  Observing them I realized how they drop the pounds and gain it right back as soon as they stop working out.  That's when I decided that I'd never get my body use to crazy work out regimes.  I lived through those years and so will you. If you want to loose weight, don't follow everyone else just do what's best for you and remember it is 70% of what you eat and only 30% exercise. When I started college and working, I started loosing weight pretty much effortlessly.  My body was not use to much so the little bit of effort of taking long walks in the college campus & standing on feet at work pretty much did it for me.  Since then I never had to worry about my weight.  I could eat anything and everything all day and never weighed over 112 lbs.  My weight fluctuated between 108-112 lbs.
When I got pregnant I made a mistake of continuing my habits and ended up gaining 50 lbs with my daughter.  It is recommended not to gain more than 35 lbs during your first pregnancy and my OBGYN was concerned.  Rightfully so, I ended up having a C-Section due to the size of the baby.
Thankfully shedding the pounds post delivery was not difficult for me.  I shed most of it in the very first month.  In about 3 months I had shed it all off, but then I realized that my body was very vulnerable to gaining weight at a faster rate than before pregnancy. So that first year post partum I was gaining & then trying to loose it again. It was a whole cycle. It made me realize that my body has changed and so now when I know I have to fit in a certain outfit for an occasion I watch what I eat for 2 wks and kinda let go at other times when I want to ;)  My weight fluctuates from 112-116 lbs now.

Make up & Skin Care

Hi everyone,
In this post I'll share my views on make up, skin care and what I use personally.  I enjoy applying make up when I have the time but when you have a little one it is very challenging to do so.  I will also admit that I am not good at applying make up.  And from what people tell me and what I notice in my pictures, I look better with light make up.  On the good side, I have round/doe shaped eyes and they are I'd say a decent size :) so whenever I apply too much of stuff (especially eye shadow) it takes away from my eyes.  My lips are very full so for the longest time I use to avoid loud colors but I'm over that now.  I am comfortable wearing loud colors now, but I keep my eye make up light (most of the times).  I have bad eye sight and have been wearing contact lenses since I was in 8th grade.  My contact lenses are by Color blend and I wear their gray color.  That is another reason I need to keep my eye make up light because with colored contacts, your eyes tend to pop out even more and any little eye make up that you apply can look too much. So be cautious :) On the not so good side, I have a round face and fat cheeks so I love to contour my face whenever time allows : =)
My daily routine includes taking my daughter to Gymboree classes, children's museum, children's gym and lots of walking.  For such routine days I simply wash my face, apply a moisturizer, a lip gloss and powder by make up forever pro-finish for some coverage.
We have a big circle of family and friends and we have a lot of family gatherings and parties to attend.  For such occasions the make up products I love to use are as follows: I would like to also add that I didn't know about most of these products until about a year ago, thanks to all the social media and youtube tutorials that we have today..

Smashbox Primer
Chanel foundation
Motives Contour Kit
UrbanDecay2 Eye Shadow Palette
ProFinish Foundation Powder
Eye Shadow Primer
Anastasia Beverly hills Brow
Chanel Mascara
Highlighter
Face Contour

As for my lips, I only own a hand full of MAC lipsticks. I don't spend a fortune on lipsticks, lipliners and other lip products.  We don't tend to wear the same color all the time so I think it's a waste of money. I'd also like to mention my make up bag, (<= link) this specific one is from ULTA and is the best one I've come across.  It fits all my make up and is very easy to travel with, especially for me because I travel 2 hrs away with all my stuff for our family gatherings.
I'm attaching a picture of my make up tote and some lipsticks..

My make up peeves:  Today, if you look at any girl's picture on social media and especially on IG you'd think that God has created everyone with perfect features, thanks to all the make up products and make up tutorials and tips lol.  And I said IG in specific because one cannot zoom in the pictures and also by the mercy of all the wonderful apps and filters that can be used there. That is my pet peeve because when you look at someone in person their features are not what you see in their pictures.  And I don't think it is fair for those who actually do have prominent features or those who don't apply a lot of make up and to those who don't know how to apply make up.  Anyways, so that's my take on the issue, what's yours?
Peace <3

My personality

Did you know that there are 16 different types of personalities.. hmm neither did I.  Just like you all, I always knew of the 4 types only.  Type A,B,C,D. I just came across this article (attached below about the interesting 16 types of personalities so that this is good topic to talk about).
I personally don't think it is fair to categorize someone's personality because there are traits I see in myself from Type A, B and C.  Not so much of type D.  But over all, it is hard to say I'm Type A or B.. etc.  because every individual is different and not to forget that people's personalities can change overtime as well.  These categories are too vast.  I believe that it is very much possible for an individual to react to the same situation in different ways based on the circumstances.  As the saying goes "Do not confuse my personality with my attitude, my personality is who I am and my attitude depends on who you are".  For example when we come to a disagreement with someone we love we handle it with patience but if we come across a similar disagreement with someone we are not very close with, we tend to take it negatively and react accordingly.
All I can say about myself is that I am someone who speaks their mind, I say what I believe is right.  I call a spade a spade and I say that in a good/positive spirit. I will never sugar coat anything to impress anyone which makes me vulnerable to be misunderstood. Those who truly know me and appreciate my honesty love me for who I am and that is all that matters to me. I am extremely goal oriented and someone who likes to take charge of things. I don't like restrictions and believe in leadership. I love planning things out in advance and have a schedule for almost everything I do on a daily basis.  I am the kind of person who graduated from high school and was enrolled in college right away, never missed a semester and graduated with my RN license without wasting anytime.  I always use to joke and say I want to retire by 30 and actually I beat that goal of mine by a few of years, Alhamdulillah I'm retired from that field and am a full time mom now.  My husband and I have known each other since I was 18 years old and we always knew what we wanted from our life together. Our priorities have always been very clear, We are both goal oriented & hard working people though he has a complete opposite personality to mine.
I'm attaching an article about the 16 types and the 4 types of personalities that I read online and if I have to choose a category for myself from that 16 type article then I'd say I'm  "The architect" and "The commander" :)
So what type are you? ;)

First post

Hi!
I'm starting to write a blog for the first time in order to share some of my believes, ideas, style, likes & dislikes. I would also love to talk about being a full time mother and just life in general.  A lot of what we think and share on social sites can get misinterpreted but here it is much easier to communicate with an invisible audience. Whoever stumbles across my blog will be able to read my posts and know for a fact that these are just the things I believe and not directed towards anyone else.
My blog is named "Zainahzarlasht" which is a combination of my daughter's first name and my first name.  I use that for all my social network pages such as FB, IG, Snapchat.. though I'm not a very active snapchat user. A little bit about our names.  My name Zarlasht is a Pashtoon name and it means the golden branch.  this name was given to me by my paternal grandfather (even though my father's side is not Pashtoon) but he loved Pashtoons and so I was named that.  My mom named me Minah which means Love in Pashto.
My daughter's name Zainah is an Arabic name which means a beautiful ornament.  It was in 2009 when I decided of this name for whenever and if I ever had a daughter.  I use to watch this Indian soap called "Aap ki Antara" which was a story of an autistic little girl Antara.  I was in love with that little girl playing the character of Antara and found out that her real name was "Zaynah".  So that's how I got that name and the other thing I love about the name is the fact that no Afghan has this name.  My husband changed the letter "Y" in Zainah to the letter "I" so that a few letters of his name Imran are part of her name too... such as the I and N.  So that's me and my little family.  Enjoy reading my blogs :)
